"At Cheval we are dedicated to the total enjoyment of riding and to the happiness and well being of both our riders and our equine athletes. Our goal is to provide the skill and understanding of horsemanship which will result in a life long love of riding. We stress safety through proper instruction from the ground up."
Horseback Riding Lessons
Lessons are provided for adults and children of all ages from beginner to advanced levels. Our lesson horses are experienced, well-schooled, and high-quality show horses that are occasionally used by our students for competitions. Riding Lessons are taught by a trained professional with over 24 years of experience in riding, showing, training, breeding, and caring for horses.
Our lesson program at Cheval is unique and like no other. Although we use the arena, round-pen, and lunging to instill confidence and balance in our riders, we try to keep things interesting! We use trail rides, games, various exercises, and obstacle courses to keep our riders and horses focused and eager to learn. We find that using this method produces well-rounded riders that are better prepared for dealing with the every day situations that go along with riding and owning a horse.
Students not only learn how to ride, they learn all aspects of horsemanship including, but not limited to, proper grooming, haltering and un-haltering, how to catch a horse, tacking and un-tacking, mounting and dis-mounting, leading, first aid, proper nutrition, what to do in case of an emergency and safety around horses. This teaches the student how to care for and safely interact with a horse in the event that they may someday purchase one.
All students are encouraged to wear a riding helmet while riding and working with horses. Students under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet. Riding helmets are available for use during your lesson, however, we strongly suggest that you purchase your own helmet after your first few lessons. Students should wear a lightweight, narrow, closed-toe boot with a 1 - 1.5 inch heel and long pants. Students are also encouraged to bring their own water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray.

Kaelin Larson: Fellow Competitor and HorseWoman
"I have known Aleshia of Cheval for about 15 years now. She is one of the most dedicated and honest people I know when it comes to the Equestrian sport. Aleshia is the one person that I completely trust and go to with all my equine questions when I need an answer. She can teach you the skills you need to excel in the horse world. From Greenies and Beginners to Advanced riding she will help you achieve that winning edge!"
Carissa Grisham: Student
"Aleshia is a very dedicated riding instructor. She works hard to make sure I understand what she is teaching and goes above and beyond during and between lessons to teach me. My lessons with Aleshia in the last 6 months have been a major catalyst in improving my riding and my horse's training. I can not thank her enough for giving me guidance in training my horse to jump and helping me rack up the ribbons at horse shows. Here's to more lessons, shows, and good times!"
Rebecca Aguilar: Student
"Aleshia is a very dedicated rider and instructor. She loves her horses as if they were her children. When I first came out to ride, I was very impressed by the facilities and care of the horses. She is always concerned about the rider's safety and riding ability. She is always helping me and giving me new ways to improve my riding. Her communication is always clear and respectful to me. I could not recommend a better or friendlier place to board and/or train."
